Most BOD customers will be aware, but it bears repeating, the HEDwitschak bodhráns are all made by hand by Christian himself. There is no mass production line, he has no apprentices or staff.

Recently, Christian took to Instagram to say that his back order book had become too much, and so he has made some hard decisions about balancing his work load with his personal health and family time. We say, well done Christian for your decision and honest communication.

For the balance of 2026, Christian will be focussed on producing his unique custom orders, the CoreLine models, the Signature drums, and the KIWI and EXPRESS configurHEDor (these latter two are not carried by BOD).

He has also discontinued a number of models, including the CoreLine Maxi, the Dordrán and MCTFD & MCBFD frame drums (the latter three items we have not carried at BOD).

There are several models that will not be produced for the balance of 2026, and he will open his order book in January 2027 for delivery later in the year. These include the HEDge drum, TrHED and startHED (again, latter two not carried at BOD).

What does this mean for BOD customers?

First of all, supplies of HEDcases, Hedwitschak tippers and other accessories are not affected, they will continue to be supplied as needed.

Regarding the CoreLine Maxi, which is the 45 cm x 12 cm bodhrán, we have two in stock right now, but when those are gone, we will not be able to source any more, Christian is discontinuing that one model for the foreseeable future. If, after the Maxi’s have sold out, you are interested in a 45 cm drum with a natural skin look at Cormac Byrne’s Signature Series CBSS drum, or we have a Renegade Rhythms 42 cm drum in stock. Alternatively of course, we modestly suggest the 18 inch BODdrum is rather a fabulous beast! You have a choice of synthetic heads on the BODdrum, take a look.

The HEDge drums we were allocated for 2026 were sold on back order before they arrived, they have already come and gone.  Mark your calendar and get in touch with us in January 2027 to put your name down for a likely late June 2027 delivery.  This is important! We were only allocated 4 this year, so your expression of interest is important so we can get into Christian’s order book for as many as our customers may want.

We have had some substantial orders pending with Christian, and we know some of those goods are on their way, they should be with us within a week or so. But a number of the incoming drums have already been sold via back orders, so we won’t see additional stock available in the shop for a little while longer for some models.

At this moment in time (7 August) we have stock on our shelves of the Slim, Bullet and Classic CoreLine drums, and 2 CBSS Compacts (the 40 cm diameter model). In the next week or two we should receive more Bullets and some XL CoreLines.

CoreLine Black ChangeHED, Universal, and more Bullet and XL CoreLine drums as well as 2 of the 45 cm CBSS bodhráns should be with us in the autumn, hopefully by the end of September.
