People we work with, play with, who use our drums, we admire, or just enjoy their company for a good session and a pint or two. And a few other interesting links too…
Stevie Moises – all the beaters offered for sale by BOD are made for us by Stevie
Hedwitschak Drums – Christian makes beautiful traditional wooden bodhráns in Bavaria
Cormac Byrne – percussionist, teacher and our collaborator on the Talking Bodhrán
Evan Carson – brilliant drummer, good friend
Colin Harte – American ethnomusicologist with special interest in bodhrán and an early adoptor of the BODdrum
Coton Morris – if I can’t drum, I can at least be dancing
Ely and Littleport Riot – a women’s Morris side for which I play
Sutton Masque – yet another fine local Morris side for which I play
Catch the Pigeon – a ceilidh band for which I play
Dennis Cuddles Starlight Band – another celidh band for which I play
The Fountain – an Ely pub where I can often be found playing a session on Friday nights
We are still waiting to confirm details for the 2021 Festival season, but these are some of our favourite events, which we have attended in the past, or hope soon to attend as vendors. Watch the Blog for details of the coming season’s plans, as they are confirmed.
Ely Folk Festival in Ely, Cambridgeshire, 9-11 July 2021.
For 2021 we are awaiting confirmation that vendor stalls can go ahead under Covid guidelines, and John will be playing his BODdrum (among other things!) with the Dennis Cuddles Starlight Band.
Folk East at Glemham Hall, Little Glemham, Suffolk, 20-22 August 2021.
See their site for a frank discussion of the state of planning for this event in light of the pandemic.
Shrewsbury Folk Festival, West Midlands Showground, Shrewsbury, 27-30 August 2021.
Warwick Folk Festival, Warwick Castle Park, 15-18 July 2021.
World Music Workshop Festival formerly known as Drum Camp, near Bungay, Suffolk. Currently they are trying to organise a reduced event for September 4-5, 2021.
RAL Colour Palette – the standard (but extensive!) colour set for industrial powder coating. The basic BODDrum uses a matte black finish of this type, but you can customise your BODdrum by choosing another colour from this range.
