BOD are booked in as vendors for five festivals this summer, and we couldn’t be more excited. Come hear some fabulous acts and get all inspired to try out our bodhráns and then go home with a drum of your own!
First up, 7 to 9 July is the Ely Folk Festival, just outside the lovely cathedral city of Ely, in Cambridgeshire. This is our local gig, and dear to John’s heart, as he has been involved with it over the past 20 odd years in nearly every capacity from parking assistant to Director. This is a lovely bijoux family friendly festival. During this weekend, John will be playing for a couple Morris sides and with the Catch The Pigeon Ceilidh Band at the Friday night late ceilidh, which will give you some great opportunities to hear a BODdrum in the wild!
The next place we pitch our marquee is Warwick Folk Festival, held in the Castle grounds, from 27 to 30 July. Warwick prides itself on presenting the very best in traditional and contemporary folk arts, with a great vendor and food village as well as great music.
A short break and then three festivals back to back to wrap up the summer!
The Folk East Festival at Glemham Hall in Suffolk, 18 to 20 August, is one of our favourites for the comraderie in the dedicated Instrument Village space. This is another very family friendly event with five music and dance venues spaced out across the grounds, and a wonderful craft village in addition to the Instrument village.
This year BOD have been invited to the Towersey Festival at the Claydon Estate near Buckingham, from 25 to 28 August (the Bank Holiday weekend). In addition to our vendor’s pitch, John will be offering at least one Bodhrán workshop, details to be confirmed. Towersey is a well known and well loved “community of music, creativity, friendship, and fun.”
Then we wrap up the season the weekend of 1 to 3 September at the Music Worldwide Summer Camp, or, for those of us who knew and loved it before Covid, Drum Camp. Once more being run at Hulver Farm near Bungay, this unique event is not about sitting and listening – it’s about learning and getting involved with the music making. There will be over 80 workshops across three days where you can learn drumming, dance and music making traditions from around the globe. Find BOD at our vendor’s pitch, and John will be offering Bodhrán workshops, details to be confirmed. You may also come across him perfecting his djembe skills during the weekend!
Come out for some great music this summer, and come try out our drums for yourself, we look forward to meeting you!
Bear in mind, we will be shutting the online shop whilst we are away at festivals.
