The BOD workshop is bursting at the seams with new bodhrán stock. Christian Hedwitschak has topped up our supplies of the basic CoreLine models, so we have at least one of each of the basic models – Slim, Bullet, Universal, Classic, XL and Maxi.
And of course, our very own BODdrums – spun aluminium with a synthetic head, these drums hold their tune under any conditions, with many professionals keeping them in their line up to play when the trad drums lose their tune on a hot stage or at a rainy festival. Incidentally, they are also perfect for the vegan musician, with no animal products in their construction. We have full stock of 14″, 16″, and 18″ shells with a choice of drum heads, and the BODdrum Deep which is 14″ x 6″ deep.
The BODdrums are also a fantastic choice for the sound world beyond trad bodhrán, exploring the possibilities of a bodhrán in world music, jazz and rock contexts. The Cormac Byrne Talking Bodhrán is a further development of the BODdrum, with a heavier shell and custom paint job, designed in collaboration with Cormac. Check out the UTSAV videos, where he plays the Talking Bodhrán as part of an ensemble with traditional Indian musicians and a British jazz pianist.
Also in stock and made by Christian, the Cormac Byrne Signature Series CBSS in both the standard 45 cm and the Compact 40 cm. For the bodhrán player looking to up their game, push their skills, these drums are a fantastic next step in a trad model. The CBSS featured in the first production of Come From Away, and have been the choice of many of the featured bodhrán players in subsequent productions around the world.
For the resolutely trad players among you, we do have a range of Renegade Rhythm’s bodhráns in stock. Each drum is unique, hand made by Mog himself, the legendary player, teacher and drummaker. John’s first drum was a Mog, and it is still a favourite today, 30 odd years on.
Don’t forget we close for the holidays the night of 18 December,
with last shipments the morning of the 19th.
