This weekend BOD will be attending the Warwick Folk Festival from the 27th to 30th July. It’s our first time at this event, held in the grounds of Warwick Castle, and we are looking forward to it immensely.
Warwick prides itself on “presenting the very best in traditional and contemporary folk arts” which is perfectly in tune with what we try to do, offering you the very best of traditional and contemporary bodhráns and beaters, as well as accessories.
In addition to being on site as vendors, John will be running some bodhrán workshops. We understand the timing and sign ups will be posted at the Festival’s main Information tent, so keep an eye out for that.
If you can’t make Warwick, remember we will be at the Folk East Festival at Glemham Hall in Suffolk, 18 to 20 August. This one of our favourites, as there is a dedicated Instrument Village where you can buy guitars, stringed instruments, pipes and whistles and of course BOD’s full range of contemporary and traditional bodhráns. The festival has lots of opportunities for sessions both at the Instrument Village and in the pub in the evenings. This is another very family friendly event with five music and dance venues well spaced across the grounds, and a wonderful craft village too.
This year BOD have been invited to the Towersey Festival at the Claydon Estate near Buckingham, from 25 to 28 August (the Bank Holiday weekend). In addition to our vendor’s pitch, John will be offering at least one Bodhrán workshop, details to be confirmed. Towersey is a well known and well loved “community of music, creativity, friendship, and fun.”
Finally, the weekend of 1 to 3 September is the Music Worldwide Summer Camp, or, for those of us who knew and loved it before Covid, Drum Camp. Once more being run at Hulver Farm near Bungay, this unique event is all about learning and getting involved with the music making. There will be over 80 workshops across three days where you can learn drumming, dance and music making traditions from around the globe. Find BOD at our vendor’s pitch, and John will be offering Bodhrán workshops, details to be confirmed. You may also come across him perfecting his djembe skills during the weekend!
We hope to see you at one of these events this summer!
NOTE: Remember, whilst we are away at Festivals, the on-line shop will be on hold. It is now closed for this weekend, to re-open on 1st Augusst.
